Plot Review:
Monique Grant, a Vivant magazine reporter, has been chosen to conduct an interview with Evelyn Hugo, a reclusive former star who is auctioning off some of her famous gowns to benefit a breast cancer charity. Monique goes to Evelyn’s apartment to meet her despite her confusion over why she was chosen. Evelyn says that she doesn’t want to do an interview for Vivant. Instead, she wants Monique to write her life story.
Monique agrees, but she’s a little skeptical. At the age of 14, Evelyn meets her first husband, Ernie Diaz. After that, she weds him in order to make it to Hollywood and get away from her controlling father in Hell’s Kitchen. Harry Cameron, a young producer at Sunset Studios, notices her and becomes close friends with her. Evelyn marries Ernie after the studio arranges for her to meet famous actors for publicity and seduces a Sunset executive to advance her career. She falls in love with actor Don Adler and weds him, but over the next few months, when Evelyn puts pressure on his career, Don starts abusing her.
