Plot Review:

The main character of the novel, Claire Randall is playing a double life in this novel. In one century she is with her husband and a lover in another. After touching a boulder or gibber stone in one of the ancient stone circles, she became Sassenach-an Outlander in Scotland in 1743.

These ancient stone circles dot the British Isles. The author narrates Claire’s life by showing how she was torn between desire and fidelity. She was in between two vastly different men and between two irreconcilable lives.
