Plot Review:
Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton, makes the decision in 1814 to settle down and continue the family’s tradition after years as one of the most infamous rakes of the ton. Anthony believes, albeit irrationally, that he will also die young because of his father’s bee sting death and does not want the complications of falling in love. Kate Sheffield, her younger half-sister Edwina, and her stepmother Mary arrive in London’s ton at the same time.
She is less optimistic about her own prospects as a near spinster, but she is determined to find a suitable husband for Edwina, who is intelligent and well-known for her beauty. Kate is determined to get involved when Anthony starts courting Edwina because she is skeptical that he has changed from his arrogant ways.
